Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager

Job Summary:

The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing purchasing/procurement/sourcing policies and administering purchasing activities, including selecting sources of supply, approving purchase orders, managing relationships with suppliers, and negotiating terms of contracts. This position reports directly to the President & COO.

Essential Functions

  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, confidentiality agreements, master purchase agreements, and others as required
  • Maintain the Sourcing matrix and strategy for the given commodities
  • Cost reduction initiatives
  • Track key commodity indices, Steel, Iron, and Aluminum
  • Track and monitor key performance indicators of suppliers
  • Monitor, assess, and mitigate supply chain risk
  • Develop and manage supplier relations, conduct periodic business/performance reviews for continued improvement of deliverables
  • Support production and escalation issues that arise as they monitor material shortages, obsolescence notifications, and anything else relevant to daily operations
  • Partner with legal to negotiate commercial contracts/agreements with suppliers
  • Identify top problem suppliers, lead, and collaborate with respective cross-functional teams for continuous improvement
  • Approve requisitions, Issue purchase orders/scheduling agreements, and set up new vendors
  • Participate in new product development (NPD) initiatives

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the procurement/supply chain field is required
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Supply Chain from an accredited college or university is required
  • CSCP, CPM or CPP certification is a plus
  • Experience working with an ERP system
  • Direct experience in Global sourcing
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/technical requirements/specifications
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers, suppliers, or employees of the organization
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)

Preferences and Qualifications

  • Experience in sourcing castings, machined components, and injection molding
  • The successful candidate for this position must have a broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish and maintain professional, effective working relationships within and outside the company
  • Must be self-directed with exceptional time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Strong project management skills to keep the team and actions on track to completion
  • Proven experience working with suppliers, including new launches, and improving underperforming suppliers through supplier improvement programs
  • Demonstrated hands-on approach, analytical abilities, and attention to detail
  • Strong background in contract negotiation
  • Proven track record of delivering results
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)

Salary Range: $145,000+ (annual; salary, exempt)
