Deep Hole, Zero Guesswork
NSH USA and partners deliver cutting-edge turn-mill solution
Our projects are complex, and our customers require tight machining tolerances, increased production, and modern safety practices. Working with experienced and technically accomplished partners is key to manufacturing the right solution.
In collaboration with Sandvik Cormorant, Empire Dynamics, and our colleagues at NSH Technology, NSH USA delivered a NILES-SIMMONS N60 MC Turn-Mill machining center to a North American aerospace supplier.
The machine incorporates the NILES-SIMMONS “closed door machining” core principle as well as new technology like Sandvik Cormorant’s Silent Tools™ Plus and CoroPlus® Connected tooling.
The process required “deep hole operations,” which often leaves the operator machining blind – a daunting task, and one that could be costly and time-consuming if something goes wrong. By simulating the process using Empire Dynamics’ digital twin technology, the trial and error was accomplished in the virtual space. The N60 MC was factory-integrated with Sandvik Cormorant’s CoroPlus sensorized boring bars, which allows the operator to stay connected to the cutting edge during ID machining and able to respond quickly and appropriately.
The surest sign that the project was successful? The customer purchased several more of the same machine!
