Inventory Specialist

Job Summary:

The Inventory Specialist position is responsible for managing inventory stock levels by overseeing the ordering, receiving, storing, and distributing of products and supplies, as well as ensuring accurate tracking and analysis of inventory to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent shortages while minimizing losses. This position plays a pivotal role in material flow when it comes to getting the right parts at the right place at the right time. The Inventory Specialist reports directly to the Manager, Inventory/Logistics while working closely with other procurement and production personnel.

Essential Functions:

  • Inventory tracking
    • Monitor stock levels on a regular basis
    • Perform cycle counts
    • Track material within the warehouse/shop floor
    • Update inventory management systems to maintain accurate data on product availability
  • Ordering and purchasing
    • Place purchase orders with vendors based on demand forecasts and stock levels
    • Follow up on delivery dates
  • Receiving and inspection
    • Verify incoming transactions daily against purchase orders and routing information to track inventory movements within our inventory management system
  • Storage and organization
    • Properly store inventory in designated areas, utilizing warehouse space efficiently
    • Update changes within our inventory management systems
  • Picking/storing and shipping
    • Verify accuracy of daily picking, shipping, and storage
    • Update inventory management systems to maintain accurate data on product availability
  • Loss prevention
    • Identify root cause analysis for inventory adjustments, reviewing with Management to strategize procedural implementation to minimize inventory losses through proper handling, security measures, and regular audits
  • Data management
    • Maintain accurate inventory records, generating reports, and analyzing data to identify areas for improvement

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associate’s degree in supply chain, logistics or a related field preferred, or a minimum of two (2) years of experience in inventory control or a comparable role
  • Prior experience with inventory control in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred
  • Attention to detail: ability to accurately count and record inventory data
  • Computer proficiency:
    • Familiarity with inventory management systems and data analysis tools
    • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Organizational skills: efficiently managing stock levels and warehouse space
  • Communication skills: collaborating with purchasing teams, warehouse staff, and customer service to manage inventory flow
  • The ability to multi-task and function in a fast-paced environment, meeting quick turnaround deadlines
  • Self-Starter and strong team collaboration abilities

Salary Range: $55,000-$60,000 (annually – salary, non-exempt)
