Manufacturing Day 2015

Simmons Machine Tool Corporation is proud to be a part of this year’s Manufacturing Day celebration. We will be opening our doors to Capital Region BOCES and Clean Technologies Early College High School students, faculty, and staff to showcase our modern machine tool manufacturing facility. Tour attendees will learn about our railway wheel shop equipment and automation systems and their importance to the international rail industry’s safety and productivity, and see examples from throughout the manufacturing process. Both tours are presented in conjunction with the Center for Economic Growth (CEG).

Manufacturing Day (also known as MFG Day) is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It addresses common misconceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open our doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after Manufacturing Day, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage we face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry. The rallying point for a growing mass movement, Manufacturing Day empowers manufacturers to come together to address our collective challenges so we can help our communities and future generations thrive.

Although Manufacturing Day officially occurs annually on the first Friday in October (this year it falls on October 2), every day is Manufacturing Day here at Simmons.
