Simmons At International Heavy Haul Association 2015 Conference

Simmons Machine Tool Corporation is attending the 11th International Heavy Haul Association (IHHA) Conference, which takes place June 21-24, 2015 in Perth, Australia. Simmons President & COO David William Davis and Project Manager Scott Mitchell will be at Booth 43 throughout the conference to discuss railway wheel shop machine tools and automation.

We will also be providing video content for a session by Chris Norris of Fortescue Metals Group entitled “Automation in an Ore Car Workshop”, which will be at 3:45 PM on Tuesday, June 23. The footage comes from FMG’s freight wheel shop in Port Hedland, which was designed, manufactured, and installed by Simmons and our partners in the NSH GroupHegenscheidt-MFD of Erkelenz, Germany, and Andrew Engineering of Melbourne, Australia. The maintenance facility will also be the destination of the post-conference Technical Tour.

The theme of the 2015 IHHA conference is Operational Excellence, and will focus on the exchange of information to benefit the world’s heavy haul railroad operations with emphasis on technical advancement, innovation, development, management, and maintenance of operations. A primary aim of the conference is to share knowledge and experiences among railway researchers, practitioners, and decision makers worldwide. The conference’s technical program will address recent research and best practices related to key issues involved in running heavy haul and long haul freight trains.

The International Heavy Haul Association, Inc. (IHHA) is a non-profit, non-political worldwide entity that seeks to promote international sharing and cooperation in the fields of heavy haul railroad research and innovation covering operational, environmental, and safety management as well as traditional engineering issues.
