Finance Accountant

Job Summary:

The Finance Accountant provides general accounting support to the finance team and involves a wide range of accounting and analysis functions, including, but not limited to, preparing journal entries; preparing schedules for month-end closing and budget preparation; as well as assisting with various departmental and corporate projects. This position requires the ability to manage and complete projects under the direction of the Finance Manager and Controller while always maintaining strict confidentiality of the organization’s information.

Essential Functions:

  • Month-End Entries: Execute accurate and timely posting of month-end financial information, ensuring completeness and compliance with accounting standards
  • Monthly Reporting: Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports and workbooks, highlighting key variances and trends to assist in managerial decision-making
  • Reconciliations: Conduct thorough reconciliations of all accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly
  • Financial Forecasting: Collaborate in the creation of financial forecasts, providing insights based on historical data and market trends
  • Budget Creation and Maintenance: Assist in the development and ongoing review of the organization’s budget, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Data driven personality with strong interpersonal skills and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment
  • Flexible self-starter, able to multi-task while also being highly detail oriented
  • Familiarity and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Experience in percentage of completion accounting and job costing knowledge
  • Experience with ERP systems, Crystal reports and Sage Fixed Assets helpful, but not required
  • Proficient in MS Excel (advanced knowledge of pivot tables, vlookups, formulas, etc.)
  • Ability to work calmly through high-pressure, deadline-driven periods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Must combine professionalism and enthusiasm in approach to work

Salary Range: $65,000 – $80,000 per year
